Sound

Photographing concerts, photographing musicians, photographing music itself — one whole summer around Passau, later Vienna too, at countless shows, for the price of admission and a couple of drinks. Simply because I loved making art inside an artistic room.

From jazz to funk to deep, beautiful stoner rock — whatever felt like truth. Real music: not the shallow satisfying of some surface need, but the deep inner urge to express something that wants out into this world.

To mirror the sound of the world — to share it, carry it on, bend it. To feel the beat, feel the drive, feel the heartbeat of the world, and dance to it, with every medium and every means.

Cello and figures under red light
Stage light smeared into magenta
An electric bass, red and in motion
Hands and a tambourine, close and warm
A violinist under blue light
Blue light climbing a stage truss
A hand over a drum, long exposure
Light drawn white across the dark
A single warm line in the black
A trio mid-set — bass, saxophone, voice
A double bass against an old window
A drummer, mid-laugh, behind the mics
A banjo under the stage lights
An accordion blurred into motion
The neck of a double bass, in silhouette
A hand blurred across the keys
A player silhouetted against the light
A lone violin, glowing out of the dark
